What's Going On With The Peachland Economic Development Committee?
So we're moving toward the big election day in October and I'm doing as much research as I can on just about everything that moves. One of the things that caught my interest this week was the Peach Economic Development Committee (PEDC). What is going on there?
I downloaded the meeting minutes from the last year and it is like watching a glacier race through town. Seriously. There is a lot of huff and puff and fluff, but this puppy has zero traction. I noticed that wannabe councilor, Patrick Van Minsel, managed to show up for a meeting just once in the past year! I guess being Executive Director of the Chamber keeps him too busy! Towel down, Patrick. You must be exhausted!
But regarding the content of these meetings – I hardly know where to start. First, there is some chatter about “Climate Change”. NEWS Flash snowflakes! Climate control is in God's hands, not yours. Climates change. They always have and they always will.
With no thanks to Al Gore's effort to start a global counter-currency in Carbon futures – something he called “Global Warming”, we now have some people who can't think for themselves. They suffer the illusion that we can do something about carbon. I could digress and say, “why would we want to try to reduce plant food (CO2)? There are many periods during the past 10,000 years where carbon has been much higher than it is today. Plant food is good. Don't forget – Iceland was once a tropical jungle. Yes. Climates change.
But, it's all in God's hands. If mankind is determined to wreck the planet, I can assure you that nature is not going to take that sitting down. You will preserve and protect this planet, or expect mother nature to wipe you out.
My issue with the PEDC is that there is no spark happening here. If you are going to help Peachland to grow and prosper economically, then get your heads out of the clouds. Come down from the 30,000 foot level and put some shoe leather on the street. Get to work and make it happen!
